Nomee has been hard at work, with Oopsie supervising of course.

We have sewn about a quarter of these little apple cores into pairs.

This will most definitely be a long term project, but I am trying to sew six pairs every time Nomee is in action.

Oopsie is getting excited because she thinks she is getting new friends.

Here she is trying to get them to show their faces, they are a bit shy though.

Tuesday Treasure

Remembering a time past when the shoe you wore was as important as the dress.

This gem was a gift from SJ and sits on my dressing table keeping my rings tidy.

This rainbow appeared over the neighbours roof Saturday afternoon right after the siren sounded on the Grand Final!

Stitching and shopping

While Tuesday was a work day, I was on the road again and just couldn't resist a little detour to fill in the hour between clients.

So I visited Gail's Patchwork Emporium in the Ballarat suburb of Sebastapol - now one hour really is not sufficient time here - there are so many gorgeous things to look at, it is not all fabric. I was on a time schedule though so I picked up these three, had a chat and was back on the job!

No particular projects in mind for the orange and brown fabric just couldn't resist, the blue has a definite purpose - should get me started on the Christmas production line.

A little sample of the new fabric range 'Where the wind blows' designed by the talented Melly. I picked up these fat quarters on Saturday at Immerse, the colours are very pretty.

Oh and a little more stitching - the outside of Flat Nat's suitcase - need to organise Nomee to get this one sewn together now.

Magnificent Monday

Continuing the stitching from Saturday - 4 done - 2 to stitch! Only 'C' and '3' to do.

Immerse...

See back again - I did do something at Immerse and it wasn't all about eating and drinking! The 'b' and '1' from the gorgeous design by Melly and me.

Immerse is a winery in the gorgeous Yarra Valley region of Victoria and the lovely Melly, Rosalie and Leanne chose it as the location for this years Stitching retreat.

A day of good company, stitching, food and drink with no washing up to do - Yay.

A bit more sun would have made the day perfect - but we were warm and cozy inside and it didn't rain for the entire day.

Sew In (or Out!)

I hope it still counts. I took my sewing things with me yesterday afternoon when I went to work and I managed to get a few stitches in between appointments.

Now the main stitchery for Flat Nat is complete - she got her stocking and shoes yesterday which was just as well as winter returned here today.

When I got home I managed to get some of the details for the passport completed - but I can't get any better photo than this - Maybe if the sun puts in an appearance soon I will be able to show you what it really looks like?

Today I got to play at Immerse in the Yarra Valley where we were treated to some fine projects by the talented Melly of Melly and Me, Rosalie from Rosalie Quinlan Designs and Leanne from Leannes House, but you will have to wait til tomorrow as they are doing it all over again and I don't wish to spoil the surprise for those attending. I did some stitching there too.

Blue

I made this quilt more than two years ago from the pattern supplied at that year's Outer Eastern Fabric Frolic here in Melbourne.

It was to be a gift for a friend's wedding, the marriage was postponed indefinitely and the quilt has been stored in my space for these past two years, just waiting.

My friend has recently had surgery and I will be catching up with her soon. I figure this is the right time to pass on this quilt. I got it out to air and get the label sorted.

I checked out this centre and feel now that I may need to do a little cover up job?

Where was I?

That's right I have been plodding away in every 'spare' 30 minutes I get.

(read everytime I don't want to do what is next on the list!)

Now I am down to here - getting closer - or maybe not, as it seems every time I leave the house these scraps take it upon themselves to multiply?

These tools have been getting a good work out.

I need to tell you how much I like my new junior cutter - she does all the angles nice and smooth - way better than me trying to cut with a pair of scissors.

Now I have all these little bits of fabric - but it appears I may need more if I want to make something larger than a metre square - so it is probably lucky for me that the scraps have a life of their own.

Back to the cutting table - I will win!

Who would have thought?

All this cutting of the scraps into usuable shapes had my rotary cutter in a fit - it got jammed open. Now that would not be so bad except that I have been accident prone lately and could see some serious damage happening involving lots of blood ruining all my hard work.

Then I remembered the ever trusty can in the cupboard and figured I'd give it a try - Now she is good a new and we are continuing with the cutting operation - I will be able to show you the basket real soon.

Late last year I completed stitching this design from The Raspberry Rabbits.

Unfortunately it stayed unbound until I unearthed it this weekend.

Now it is done and just hanging out for a bit waiting for Christmas to come!

I am so happy with colour, even if it does make the writing hard to read.

The only other thing that happened in the sewing room was an attempt to gain some control over this scrap basket.

You can't see a basket - I'll show you when I'm done with it.

Now I have these lovelies all ready for a serious sewing session -

there are 2 and 4 inch squares, 4 and 5 inch apple cores and some tumblers..

(NO they will not all appear in the same project)

Back to the cutting table for me - still more scraps to deal with!

Finished!

I think I am in Love with Matilda - you see she is the maker of the template that I used for cutting these Apple Cores and they work just the same as any Quilting ruler. They have holes so that you can mark the corners and matching points on each side to get those curves to play nicely together.

I only purchased the fabrics for the top of this quilt.

I found a big enough piece of fabric in the stash for the backing and binding, a cool blue/white 1/8" check and the wadding came from a trip to The Mothers.

Finished measurement approximately 50" square - but of course you can see it is not square at all.

It is a happy quilt, just in time for spring (oh, but somebody forgot to reprogram the weather and it has been grey and raining all day her hence the photos in the kitchen).

So there you have it - Apparently if I apply myself (and have lots of days off work) I can complete a quilt in a week!
