Are those new?

There was some knitting which involved thick yarn and fat needles this week. I made this cosy cowl in teen colours, mostly because they were the ones I had in the right thickness, but we'll just keep that between ourselves, okay?

After I signed on to help with this one I thought I may have made a mistake, we are after all heading towards summer down here, not so this week, (it would have been a very welcome addition on some cool mornings). Just need to find some suitable buttons to attach and this will be done.

Pretty yarn for a pretty sock.

I bought this yarn a little over a year ago when the whole sock thing was just gaining momentum.

Then it sat patiently waiting a turn because of the whole multi coloured look of it, when I decided that my preference really is to work with solids. An opportunity to knit along with others over on Ravelry saw me looking for suitable yarn in the stash, time to pull this out and see whether it would work. The yarn, Happy by Wendy, has a high percentage of bamboo and just a little nylon so it is perfect for warmer weather socks. Means I won't need to wait until next May to get my feet into them.

Coming along nicely I'm onto the foot and really enjoying the knit and the yarn.

Total impulse buying in the supermarket today, just had to try these TimTams with strawberry filling, well they had the new sign on them! Delicious even if they weren't coated in Dark chocolate. At the back of the pic you can see the mess I made with the buttons. I'll get some real photo's next time the sun is shining in my space.

Playing with buttons...

is such a relaxing thing to do.

First I took out all the large ones - I only need the smallish ones for this project.

Fortunately I have lots of small buttons in many pretty colours.

Sorting the colours was so much fun.

Pretty blues and

Christmas colours - or greens reds and yellows.

I used a Christmas themed serving plate

Sure there I'm doing something with them other than sorting and counting,

Knitting - Not a sock

Threaded them onto string.

A lovely afternoon activity for a quick project, well it will be now all the sorting is done.

Fun Mail

A package arrived with my name on it - Yippee!

Pretty paper on the outside

and lots of fun on the inside.

Perfect timing for the super cosy socks - sure needed some of these.

The gorgeous little pouch was filled with some essentials - sustenance and a hot drink ( or two), along with some winter themed buttons - Way to fun.

A Bronwyn Hayes stitchery kit ( guess she's been checking here).

Amazing really

An afternoon and evening spent at the Quilt and Craft fair in Melbourne on Saturday and this is the sum of purchases...

A very useful 14 and 1/2inch square ruler bought with a specific purpose in mind, maybe now some of my quilt blocks will become quilts??

Two buttons and a pair of scissors just because they were there at the time.

A closer look at the little bits - two amazing Theodora Cleave buttons to use on Christmas decorations and a pair of the Scissoroo scissors.

Of course there were lots of beautiful quilts on display for inspiration, but alas I didn't take any photo's, just enjoyed the the quilty goodness in the moment.

This gorgeous fabric was purchased on my visit to GJ's Friday of last week.

It is destined to become a patchwork scarf for Miss15.

The fabric on the far right is flannel for the back to make it nice and cosy.

I have to say having the sun visiting where I am these past couple of days has brightened things up some!

Annie Angels arrived safely

Some of my Annie Angels have been flying off to their new homes. This orange Angel flew over to Marina's house last week and she took these goodies with her.

If you go by Marina's blog you can see what she did with the fabric and ricrac on the weekend.

And this Annie Angel all in Red...

collected some goodies and flew off over the waves to live with CJ here.

She took fabric, ricrac, buttons and a piece of lace. The Annie Angel production has not stopped yet and you will see more here soon, (or not if you have seen enough already).

It's Friday and the weekend is just around the corner - hope you get to spend lots of it doing what you like best.

A Good Evening...

was had by all at the Health Farm. Lots of yummy healthy food, oh and delicious desert too! Then after dinner SILJ asked about buttons and well The Mother was in a sharing mood, so we got to play with these lovelies and take some samples home of course. SILJ was looking for yellow and orange buttons for a project she is working on. I didn't get a before photo so most of the yellow ones are gone. Unfortunately The Mother did not have orange in her collection, maybe she shared with another family member already. We enjoyed finding interesting buttons among this lot for atleast an hour - Miss10 and Mr8 joined in and were very helpful cutting old threads off the buttons which had enjoyed a previous life!

Ooh... then The Mother produced these lovelies all of which are more than a metre in length. She finds all the good stuff for me at the Oppy where she voluteers weekly.

Oh, to have connections in all the right places.
