Cosy collar and a new friend

All buttoned up - the cosy grey collar, finished in time for gifting with the matching hat.

A nice snug size for a warm neck inside a coat.

Now for a little more stitching on another of Ms Millies friends - they really are very fun to characters to stitch up. Oh, sure there is a plan and it is even coming together nicely.

Just a little longer before all can be revealed.

Sure hope you had time for some stitches on Saturday.
Any other locals heading over to Essendon Quilters exhibition tomorrow?
Might see you there.
Tonight it is finally time to reset the clocks back to standard time - an extra hour of stitching or sleeping - What will it be??
Hope your Sunday is a pleasant one.

Favourites

Unusual weather patterns have left me staring skyward often recently - the colours have been amazing both in the morning and the evening. I have enjoyed seeing the city skyline bathed in light while being under a very dark sky. Unfortunately most of my observations occur while driving so there are no pictures.
These are all evening photos from walks this month in my neighbourhood and surrounding suburbs.
Playing along with Mrs P's Favourite things Friday.
Hope you have time to look skyward too.

New projects and books

Recently I have finished both my knitting project and my book, so it was time to cast on a new project, inspired by the picture in the foreground and go to the library for some new reading material. These should see me through the next couple of weeks, the books that is. As I am making the new project up as I go along it could take a while too.
Joining in with the yarn along this week where you are sure to find some inspiration for a little yarning.

Blue (and why I shouldn't go fabric shopping with the Mother)

The fuzzy Blue hat got finished - just in time for a taste of winter here in Victoria.

The yarn was a gifted ball of Moda Vera - not certain of the exact breed, but it is a wool and mohair blend. Very light and very warm.

There was a little stitching on the blue project - something about blooms to complement the flowers on the fabric.

And the rest of the story about The Mother and the fabric shop.
The mother was with me at the quilt show in Ballan and we ventured down to Mill Rose and ate delicious soup before heading into the patchwork shop. I was there to pick up some more pink fabric, and while it is not in the picture I did get what I went there for, but I also got these.

I chose the two on the left and then The Mother scoured the shop for others to compliment them, she doesn't have a project in mind, just thought they would be nice in something.

I have to agree they are nice together but did I really need this much more fabric?

Hope your week has gotten off to a good start.

Inspired

By all the gorgeous quilts at the Ballan Quilt and Craft show.

There were childrens quilts - love these ducks.

Gorgeous dancing bears by a first time quilter.

Cool owls on this very colourful quilt.

Some of my favourite colours are on show in this interesting quilt.

I spotted this pretty flower on my walk yesterday -

Hope your weekend has been filled with lots of inspiration,

Clicking....

that is the noise my needles make.

Finished knitting the scarf and started another hat.

A little stitching happening around here, too.

Hope your weekend includes some stitches.

Finished

The puzzle - the artist is Tom Antonishak. This certainly was a challenging puzzle - 1000 pieces in a space approximately the same as an A3 page.

Ducks and Dogs has had a wash and is ready to be posted if I can find the right size box.

Today I made a 'matching' laundry bag - these will be packed together and sent off for an Aussie Hero. Thanks to Jan-Marie for coordinating this project.

Something else I have been playing with today.

I am remembering what it is like to work with flimsy fabric and I need to be patient and take care if I am to be successful. I'll show when I'm done no matter what.

The sunshine was most welcome this weekend and I enjoyed getting out in it.
Hope your weekend has included some of the things you love.

Ready to Sew...

It's Friday Night Sew In - and I am all ready.

Just need to decide which one to start with.

I did do a couple of rows on my scarf while trying to decide.
Hope you have some time for stitches this weekend.

Knitting Along

Fancy that I really am knitting along.

I finished the hat on Monday and Tuesday cast on a narrow matching scarf so far it is about six inches long, lots more rows to go.

The yarn is a wool and soy protein mix of the Sean Sheep brand from Big W and very nice to knit with. I am enjoying these simple projects.

The novel is enjoyable also - The Moment by Douglas Kennedy is set against the back drop of a divided Berlin and all the difficulties of that period in history.

Playing in the Yarn Along with Ginny and all the other talented yarners.

Hope your week has plenty of stitches.

Going round in Circles

There has been a little stitching going round, this little design, she fits within a three inch square, is one of many in Bronwyn Hayes book Miss Millies Flower Patch.

and some knitting in the round - making progress.

Cutting circles for a new round project.

Just because it is long weekend here I thought I had time for a little puzzling too.

Walking round the neighbourhood it is nice to see the roses still in bloom.

Wishing you a week of going round.

Starting over

After my almost finish on the weekend I decided to swap seasons and play with spring.

A little something from these pretty colours and the inspiration in this book - Miss Millie's Flower Patch from Red Brolly.

Just because it has been a while since I cast on - I decided to knit a hat. A quick easy project for a little instant gratification, lets hope it gets finished before winter starts.

Hope your week is a creative one.

Weekend Sewing

Friday night was all about looking for the table under all the discarded fabric, half finished projects, magazines and other inspiration which had collected there.

No before shots, I was too busy getting into action to take photo's, this one shows where I was up to on Saturday morning.

I managed to finish the clean up before I headed out to the library for Saturday knitting group - where I did some crochet.

This weekend's main project was to get this quilt put together. I had already completed the top and backing last month. I had even prepared the binding, no excuses why this little quilt could not be completed. Oh, and Saturday's wet weather was so conducive of inside activity.

Basting was completed in the afternoon, sure I like the old fashioned big stitch method.

Snacks and coffee essential for consistent progress.

The evening was spent with Nomee hard at work quilting simple straight lines in the ditch on the horizontal and diagonally across the squares.

Completed on Sunday morning after a long rest.

Trimmed and bound after lunch. The binding is machine sewn both sides.

Just waiting for a label.

Multicoloured spots with burgundy surrounds happy little project for taking along.

After last weeks little cross stitch project I decided to start another one, a perfect project for evenings in.

Hope your weekend was spent in a happy dry place.
