Happy New Year

A lazy last day of the year here - our one day of summer so far, great for hibernating in the sewing room and finishing a couple of last minute projects.

Two more of the Angels designed by Melly, seen here guarding the evenings refreshments.

(see J she is getting up to mischief!)

I had fun playing with different colour combinations and am liking them both.

They will be flying off to their new homes in 2011,

speaking of which won't you join me in a toast to the New Year?

May your year be filled with
Health and Happiness
Love and Laughter
and
Most of all Fabric and thread!
Have a good one.

Christmas gifts

There was a little sewing on Christmas Eve before the festivities began and these have now been delivered to Jindi's mum.

Spinning into the night - mug rug using the Mosaic2 pinwheel block and a matching mug cosy.

A little Christmas wall hanging ready for next years celebrations once again using the design from Gail Pan, if you go by her blog she has a new free design for 2010.

Happy creating.

More Cats

Nomee has been working hard again - so hard in fact that yesterday she decided to not play very nice at all! She required just a little attention - cleaning some of the fluff and a little oil and she was purring along again - Luckily for me.
Two more compendiums - these nice bright cats for Miss7

And on the inside I included slots for some nice bright textas.

Using some of the squares of the fabric from the pillow case I made previously, I made this patchwork version for Miss12 who had a birthday last week.

On the inside I made slots for pens and paper.

Now for some grown up Christmas presents - surely it't not too late?

The sun came to visit today - Yippee!

Hope you are enjoying some brightness today.

Hanging out

I spent the weekend hanging out on the couch so as not to spread the germs which took up residence on Friday, luckily they appear to have made a speedy exit I still have sewing to finish.
I was productive and managed to stitch up this gorgeous design from the talented Melly's Sew Little range.
This little Angel has some serious business to attend to, if it will just stop being rainy and windy.
Hope your week is going super slow so you can fit in all those last minute details.
Enjoy the anticipation.

Dear Santa

Quite Contrary Color Chart I know I am really late but there are so many fabrics to choose from and it was a really difficult decision. So if you are like me and haven't finalised your Christmas preparations I would be very happy to find a little of this very cheerful fabric in my Stocking on Christmas morning.
Thanks a bunch
Mistea
PS: I promise I have been very nice and made lots of useful gifts from the fabric that I have to hand.

Happy!

I used the Red Tree to make this compendium to hold supplies for making Christmas cards.

On the inside there are pockets for the card and envelopes and places to keep pens.
Oh, and I included Rudolf here too - makes me smile every time I open it.

Best look a few more times before I wrap it.
I started the Christmas cards too - lucky there are not too many to send this year.

And the round tags in the left of the picture are a free download from here. Super cute.

A little activity in the kitchen too - tried out my new stocking cookie cutter on this gingerbread.

What is there to say - It worked a treat.

Conveniently they were ready for a morning tea taste test.

Thanks again Lisa the mug rug and mug work perfectly. Another tree in the making.

Some quality time with Nomee and another little compendium for stationery.

These cats are the most gorgeous colours - I am liking this one very much also.

I put a handle on this one so that it can be carried easily by a young person.

This time the pockets are the other way, I think there will be some more of these before the week is out.

Hope your week is going well and you are where you want to be now.

Presents

So here is my Secret Santa package waiting patiently for the big day isn't he a cutie?

I have been sewing some presents at last - I may even have some ready before Christmas Day.
These cuties are adorning a pillow case for Miss11.

A little fussy cutting and a matching garden theme print.

My version of the Daylesford Buds bag pattern that I received at the Daylesford retreat this year - okay so I just used the shape and pretty fabric and omitted the applique - this is a good sized bag.

Ooh and Melly was generous enough to supply a matching pouch pattern - I made it from the same pretty fabric to match. These are off to Miss14.

Then I gave Nomee a well earned rest and sat in the comfy chair and did a little stitching.
This was a free design from Gail Pan in 2009, can't decide which colour is my favourite, may just try a few more colours.

Oooh and the Santa's mail elves brought me another present.
My mug rug from Leah's swap came from Canberra - thanks to who ever my secret swapper is.
It has two patchwork sides and is in my favourite round shape and came with fabric - perfect.
The front

and the back.

Just perfect for a morning or afternoon cuppa.

Now I need to get back to my needles and thread, plenty more projects lined up.

Have a Fantastic Tuesday.

Mug rug swap

This little patchwork mug rug went to Kylie in Leah's mug rug swap.

So I got to use more of those little squares that have been hanging out in my sewing space to make this little cutie.

The decoration is a vintage ric rac that has a silver edging too sweet and very difficult to photograph.

Sent along a little sweet something to go with the cuppa - I hear Kylie was well pleased.
Thanks for hosting Leah.
Now best get back to some sewing.
Have a wonderful day.

Secret Santa Swap

The post people really are doing there thing this time.

As my Secret Santa recipient does not celebrate Christmas there is no need to keep anyone in suspense any longer - her package has been received and opened.

Here is where the cat package embroidery ended up - as a bib on this apron.

I included her name instead of the greeting on the original design by Lesley Purdon which appeared in Handmade magazine - Vol27No3.

The other goodies I included were some sweets, one of the many wash cloths I crocheted and a lavender hanger embroidered with her initial.

Thanks to Rebecca for this fun swap.

Santa's helpers in the mail service delivered my package in this swap this week, with strict instructions of no peeking before December 25th. So I have put it somewhere for safe keeping and will delight in the surprise on Christmas morning.

Thanks to my Secret Santa whose identity will not be revealed until Christmas.

Hope you're all having a fabulous weekend and staying safe.

Happy Creating

Christmas crumbs swap

I was very pleased to receive an email from Lisa to say that the mail man had delivered her package.
Do you want to see what was inside the box?

The requirements were a mug rug, drink sachet, candy cane, mug and cookie recipe.

I think I ticked all the boxes and the stocking ribbon was just to trick you - Rudolph featured in this package. I even included a cookie cutter as the recipe I sent was Gingerbread.

Yum - makes me want to go bake some about now.

Thanks to Aunt Pitty Pat for hosting this fun swap.

Hope your week is heading in the right direction.

Happy creating Yummies.

Still spinning

I haven't been here because I have been spending most of my free time lately in the sewing space, and I even have something to show for it!
All those blocks from last time got sewn together and I have added a narrow border to frame them. There will be one more border but it will be from the scrap tub so it could take me a while yet.
Thanks for all the positive comments on this project from the previous post, I was beginning to wonder about it after looking at all those little bits of fabric for a whole day.

While I was in the sewing frame of mind I cut and sewed a table runner - my first finished Christmas present and it is still the first week of December - Amazing really.

The fabrics I used in the main part were purchased from the specials basket at Threadbare in Castlemaine when we were at the Goldfields quilt show last month. The other fabrics are leftovers from previous projects - Yay!
Yes, more pinwheel blocks.

Hope your weekend was a good one and that you got to do something fun.

Happy creating.

Spinning out

I have been playing with the squares from this scrap pile that I cut out way back in September.

Beginning with a Lot of 2" and 4" squares I made these blocks.

Here they are waiting to be joined together.

A perfect project for a sticky rainy 1st of Summer.
Hope your Wednesday was a good one.
Happy Crafting.

Good to Go

Nomee and I had some quality time together on Sunday - we played with squares and some vintage ric rac which is really cool, pink with a silver edging, a bit difficult to see here.

I also wrapped some presents.

If you are expecting a swap package from me it will be on its way just as soon as those post people do their thing.

These are for the following swaps - Leah's mug rug, APP's Christmas Crumbs and Purple Sparkles Secret Santa.

Thanks ladies for hosting - swaps sure are fun.

Have a fantastic Monday wherever you are.

Happy Creating
