Delicious

And very late posting these..

A pretty blue version of the crocheted vest for J's mum - she's had it for a couple of weeks already.

Found at my local library this delightful book from Melly and Me - I'm still deciding which critter to make first.

I need to make a decision before I head out for some photocopying, the book is fantastic and there are lots of pictures of each of the critters but the patterns need to be enlarged, unless I want to make miniatures?

There has been a little stitching and lots of hooking happening.

Hope your week is full of fun projects.

Happy New Year

A lazy last day of the year here - our one day of summer so far, great for hibernating in the sewing room and finishing a couple of last minute projects.

Two more of the Angels designed by Melly, seen here guarding the evenings refreshments.

(see J she is getting up to mischief!)

I had fun playing with different colour combinations and am liking them both.

They will be flying off to their new homes in 2011,

speaking of which won't you join me in a toast to the New Year?

May your year be filled with
Health and Happiness
Love and Laughter
and
Most of all Fabric and thread!
Have a good one.

Let me out!

There was a squishy in my mail today and she just couldn't wait to get out of that dark place.

She got out and introduced herself to Oopsie, who was hanging out as always on the sewing table.

Then she met Dee Dee and G-Bot.

In the early evening we went for a walk to the beach, well she rode in the bag, having short legs and all and there were lots of big dogs out walking too!

Lovely blue skies today.

Boy those birds are noisy.

Thanks Caroline my new puppy has settled in already.

Thanks to Vanessa for hosting the Send me a Softie Swap, I had lots of fun playing.

Party time

I participated in a softie swap hosted by The Clip Cafe, hence all that teasing and not showing.
Now I have been advised by Caroline that they arrived safe and dry - definitely an issue as they went to live in Queensland where they had major storm activity this week with lots of the wet stuff!

These friends travelled together, as it is no fun going on adventures alone, and have been welcomed into their new home.
Designed by the talented Melly, they are a part of her new pattern range for little people.
Oopsie had a little party with her friends before they went to their new homes - oh yeah just ignore the backdrop - of course they partied in the sewing room - if this was anyone else's place they'd probably call this room the lounge!

Wishing you some creative interludes in your Thursday.

Who is hiding in the bag?

Who can it be?

Just a peek.

Can you see?

Oops - see

Pink eyes it is!

Oops -see and this bag were made welcome in their new home.

The bag was made specially to hold a set of templates and fits its purpose perfectly.

Always happy when my ideas work out as planned.

Taking Shape

Slowly...
Lots of strips of fabric - yes, more cutting
and some sewing
Nomee has been hard at work, with Oopsie supervising of course.
We have sewn about a quarter of these little apple cores into pairs.

This will most definitely be a long term project, but I am trying to sew six pairs every time Nomee is in action.

Oopsie is getting excited because she thinks she is getting new friends.
Here she is trying to get them to show their faces, they are a bit shy though.

Finished

Just when I thought this was the only kind of finish I was going to see this week...

Along came

G-Bot sister to C-Bot.

Look - No hands!

These softies are fun to make thanks to Jodie's clear instructions.

My Navy vest got itself together, all the knitting was completed by Wednesday but it took until Saturday evening to get completed. I looked through my entire button collection on Friday in search of similar sized navy buttons, I wasn't being extremely picky and was happy with variations in design - but the most I could come up with was 4 and I needed 6. So like any good crafty person I had to go shopping on my way to work Friday afternoon.

I can't imagine how it happened but I came home with only the required buttons?

All done and ready to wear just in time for the beginning of winter this week.

Okay - so I started something new too but that's the whole point of finishing isn't it??

Today I'm off to the Waverley Quilt show for lots more inspiration.

Starting again!

That's what I did with Friday night Sew In -

I started this stitching, which belongs to a project that I need to get in the post by the end of the month - guess I'd better keep stitching!!

And I started G-Bot - close relative of C-Bot from last week. These softies are so much fun to make. Now I need to add the limbs and she will be done.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend with lots of the things you enjoy best. Happy Creating

Welcome C-Bot

Close relative of the original Disco Bot created by the talented Jodie at Ric Rac, C-Bot may not be quite as balanced but he sure likes a good time.

Just hanging out on the couch after a very energetic session.

Deadline met with time to spare. Safely delivered to his new owner. Happy Creating

Magnificent Mail and a visitor

So the visitor first because that is what blogger decided - can you guess who has been visiting my sewing space this week?

Now the mail in no particular order - recieved in the past week.

Naomi sent me this gorgeous owl block to add to the ones from the Owl Swap we participated in over at Pins and Needles.

She is stitched in shades of purple and blue - just devine and amazing stitching.

Thanks Naomi.

My pillow (cushion) cover from the Project Pillow Swap - this is amazing the colours are very representative of their fruits. Thanks to Jamie for organising this swap.

I recieved this from Maria and she has caled it Fruit Salad, perfect to brighten the dull days Mr Winter has bestowed upon us lately.

Thanks Maria

This devine Christmasssy package came from Mrs P and it did not disappoint.

It was filled with these delicious Christmas fabrics, oh and some FruChocs - but you know they didn't last long enough to take part in the photo shoot!

Thanks Mrs P.

There has been a good amount of creating happening this week as I took Jindi's mums advice and kept the work outside the home to a minimum. All will be revealed just as soon as the packages are delivered. Happy Creative Weekend to all - especially those bloggers playing here in Melbourne at Sew it Together. Look forward to hearing all about it next week.

Shopping at Stitches and Craft

Saturday afternoon I ventured over to the Stitches and Craft show at Caulfield.

While it was quieter than it has been in past years I enjoyed catching up with all the crafty bloggers who were featured there and of course I couldn't come home empty handed.

I picked up this bundle from the lovely ladies at Ink and Spindle - it was way easier than trying to choose just one or two fat quarters.

These pieces are various sizes - all large enough to be useful.

I couldn't go past Jodie at Ric Rac one more time without picking up the pattern for these cute guys - figured I'd get the felt pack at the same time and I may even get one done.

There is a plan with a deadline - lets see if I make it?

I already decided before I went that I was going to get some hardware for purses from Nikki and well how could I choose just one - so I got enough to make a few.

I had a lovely afternoon and got to chat with some shopping bloggers too. Enjoy your week with lots of creative spaces. Happy Crafting

DeeDee Done

A recent rearrangement of the crafty things unearthed a number of incomplete projects - and as I came across each one the words I started this early last year kept coming out of my mouth. It seems that the beginning of 2009 saw me suffering a severe case of Startitis, I know it had something to do with the lack of a day job and thinking I had all the time in the world to complete the myriad projects which I began.

The good thing about the beginning of 2010 is that I have actually been completing some project whether they are newly started or older ones which I have picked up again. See previous post re House quilt.

Today while I was waiting for miss nudie to choose the colour for her clothes I got distracted by this project which has been on my 'want to do list' since December when I saw other creative bloggers making them for gifts. Fortunately for me Dee Dee made a quick decision about colour and fabric choices so we were underway early and did not give up until she was done.

Oh, yeah she is hanging out on the back of The Happy City quilt, I was going to take her to the beach for a photo shoot but my camera decided today was a good day to run out of battery, (must put those on the shopping list). This is a truly delightful design from the team at Melly and Me and was published in Australian Homespun in December of 2009, she is now available as a pattern.

And when the camera is doing go again I'll be able to show you the goodies I got at GJ's Sale yesterday - lots of fun.

Hope your Sunday was full of fun creations. Happy Stitching

Tea Towels and Owl

Jenny of Elefantz challenge for January was making items from TeaTowels. I had a different kind of tea towel challenge last week - we got a delivery at the laundry - a few thousand of the blighters - oh and it was my job to wash, dry and fold them - so I spent two whole days at it and got about half done! This bucket contained 600 and I left those for the boss to deal with on Saturday - my guess is they will mostly still be there tomorrow. He did kindly donate one to my cause - okay so it is one off the outside of the bale - I just soaked it then washed it, now it's clean. I made myself a bag that I can take to the supermarket when I am walking - oh and I lined it with the calico that makes up the rest of the bale packaging - Thanks Boss.
I had some fun this afternoon with the same pattern that I used in the previous post for the Owl applique - it was a softie pattern so I made it up as intended today - I just enlarged the pattern to make this cutie. It is my intention to use it for a Toy Society drop tomorrow morning, hoping is brightens some student's day on the first school day of the year.
Hope your weekend was a good one - Enjoy the coming week.
