Bird or fish?

So last week while I was out of town for training there was a little shopping - one needs to make the most of these opportunities right?

I know the purple swirls at the front and the blue/green circles on the left are fabrics I already have, just topping up the supplies while I was in the neighbourhood.
A little red and green for some Christmas fun - they are not specifically Christmas fabrics which is part of the appeal for me as they will complement lots of fabrics in my stash.

Do you see the little birdie in the top of the picture?
That is a Creative card pattern - Chubby Birds by Jodie Carleton.
Too fun

Even if my first attempt looks more like a fish!

I won't be put off by that I will just practice by making more.

Back to my knitting - I may have ten cosy toes by the end of the week.

Hope your week is off to a great start.

Favourite things

What I want to share as my favourite today is all my creative friends both real and 'imaginary' (those would be the ones I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting).
This week has been a lot about the special people out there who encourage me through their own writings on blogs and in print, and through the comments they leave on my posts here.
I received two special packages this week -
after winning a give away over at RicRac
I got this big box (the box is way out of proportion to the contents and surely if they are going to pay for all this space they could have filled it with something more interesting than bubble wrap) containing

Nikki's new book - see here it is.

Now I have had the pleasure of meeting both these lovely ladies who are very generous in sharing their knowledge and tricks.
After a recent post I had a generous offer from Liri to share with me some threads that she had no use for and these lovelies arrived in my mailbox this week.
Let me just say I have begun with the big red ball and am enjoying using this gorgeous thread, all should be revealed soon I hope.

Thanks ladies for sharing so generously.
Now this here is a picture of something I have been working on - I'll get a clearer one to share later but the creative friendly goodness continues this weekend as I am off to the Daylesford Craft Experience with some real life stitchy friends.
The guest designers for the weekend are Jodie, Melly and Kristen - should be lots there to inspire me to pick up a sewing needle again.

There may be some stitching with needle and thread this weekend, but I guess I'll have to wait and see?

You can see who else is playing favourites today here.

Have a fabulous weekend however you choose to spend it.

Let me out!

There was a squishy in my mail today and she just couldn't wait to get out of that dark place.

She got out and introduced herself to Oopsie, who was hanging out as always on the sewing table.

Then she met Dee Dee and G-Bot.

In the early evening we went for a walk to the beach, well she rode in the bag, having short legs and all and there were lots of big dogs out walking too!

Lovely blue skies today.

Boy those birds are noisy.

Thanks Caroline my new puppy has settled in already.

Thanks to Vanessa for hosting the Send me a Softie Swap, I had lots of fun playing.

Daylesford Craft Experience

You'll just have to believe me when I tell you the food was delicious, the setting gorgeous, the company wonderful and the designers amazing.

Why? Because I as too busy stitching to take photo's! (oh and chatting, eating...)

Chocolate pebbles - Giant smarties these were the best.

There was a bowl of these on every table.

The directions on our goody bags - I think they forgot something - eating and shopping were both popular!

,

The goody bags contained gorgeous patterns from each of the designers - Melly, Jodie and Annette, along with locally made chocolates, soaps and some stitchy goodies.

Fabric, thread and even a needle to get started. There were thread snippers, a tape measure and transfer pen also.

The evidence - eating was not the only thing I managed to get done, I did some stitches too. A little cutie from Jodie.

I could not resist a couple of treats for me - the Melly & Me Sleepover bag pattern and a kit for the Bucket the gingerbread man adorns. Too cute.

We all received a fabric postcard to decorate prior to the event which we left at the door on the way in.

At the end of the day we got to pick one from the basket. Thanks Katie.

A fantastic way to spend Saturday.

Thanks to Merrilyn of Threadneedle Crafts and Zoe of Purl's Palace.

Hope your weekend was spent in good company, doing your some of your favourite things.

Welcome C-Bot

Close relative of the original Disco Bot created by the talented Jodie at Ric Rac, C-Bot may not be quite as balanced but he sure likes a good time.

Just hanging out on the couch after a very energetic session.

Deadline met with time to spare. Safely delivered to his new owner. Happy Creating
