Tuesday Treasure

Remembering a time past when the shoe you wore was as important as the dress.

This gem was a gift from SJ and sits on my dressing table keeping my rings tidy.

Tuesday Treasure

I inherited this brooch from my grandma which was a wonderful surprise as she was a very practical woman and jewellery was only worn on very special occasions.
My father believes it came from his grandmother as the family were quite well off and important members of their community.
I am just so happy to have it in my possession.
Check with the queen of treasure to see who else is playing this week.

Tuesday Treasure

Simple and practical, created with love by my Grandma.
No two were ever the same and we all got one every year for our birthday.
I sure treasure these bright reminders of the talent of my Grandma.
Head on over and check with the Queen of treasure to see who else is playing.

Tuesday Treasure

Whilst I am unaware of the age or origin of this thimble I consider it a treasure.

As you can see it is quite well used and it fits perfectly so it is a very useful addition to my sewing kit.

My mother claimed it for me when her oldest sister passed away in 2005 aged 90.
For reasons only past family members know this sister did not grow up with her siblings, but she did get to know a lot of them and the extended family in the last 15 years of her life.
I never met this lady, but from the stories I heard and this small reminder I understand she was quite an accomplished needlewoman.
I guess stitching and sewing really is in my genetic make up.

Tuesday Treasure

This doll was made by Granny around 60 years ago.

While she had cosmetic surgery and received a new wig and outfit in the early 70's she is still in good condition.

The clothing includes a full set of underwear and is all removable.

Sure have lots of memories of playing with this lady who I don't believe ever got a name.

The tights are made from children's socks and the shoes are black felt with red laces.

The hair is a crocheted head piece which is attached after making.

She even has ears embroidered on the side of her head.
Go visit the treasure queen to see who else is playing.
