Waverley Quilt Show

The Waverley Patchworkers in Melbourne sure are diverse and talented.

This quilt was one from the Art Quilt group. It is quite small and the trees are free machine embroidered - the colours were amazing - perfect depiction of winter.

A lovely bright Kaffe quilt using the drunkards path block - just stunning.

One for the boys - this quilt used a combination of Train themed prints and pieced sashing and borders for the train tracks.

A quilt which summed up summer at the beach - lovely bright colours.

The next two quilts are made from the same design by the same stitcher - Oh what a difference colour can make.

A beautiful Baltimore inspired quilt in the prettiest purples and greens - this quilt was huge.

Another take on Drunkards path - this time made with string blocks in two colours - Love the effect - warm and moving.

This last quilt was called the Decade quilt - and for good reason.

It has the most amazing embroidery on not just the patches but also the borders. Lots of luxury fabrics in the most beautiful colours.

A lovely afternoon spent appreciating the work which goes into not just the quilts but the hosting of a show like this. Well done. How did you spend your Sunday afternoon? Happy Crafting

Finished

Just when I thought this was the only kind of finish I was going to see this week...

Along came

G-Bot sister to C-Bot.

Look - No hands!

These softies are fun to make thanks to Jodie's clear instructions.

My Navy vest got itself together, all the knitting was completed by Wednesday but it took until Saturday evening to get completed. I looked through my entire button collection on Friday in search of similar sized navy buttons, I wasn't being extremely picky and was happy with variations in design - but the most I could come up with was 4 and I needed 6. So like any good crafty person I had to go shopping on my way to work Friday afternoon.

I can't imagine how it happened but I came home with only the required buttons?

All done and ready to wear just in time for the beginning of winter this week.

Okay - so I started something new too but that's the whole point of finishing isn't it??

Today I'm off to the Waverley Quilt show for lots more inspiration.

Starting again!

That's what I did with Friday night Sew In -

I started this stitching, which belongs to a project that I need to get in the post by the end of the month - guess I'd better keep stitching!!

And I started G-Bot - close relative of C-Bot from last week. These softies are so much fun to make. Now I need to add the limbs and she will be done.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend with lots of the things you enjoy best. Happy Creating

I was forced!

I was asked to go for a drive in the country on Wednesday to do a couple of jobs which take around an hour each, but required two hours driving each way.

After careful consideration given the timing of the appointments I thought it was an opportunity too good to refuse - I would get paid to do a little work and be required to drive right past this amazing store, which I remembered has wool felt.

Candleberry Country is located in the gorgeous Yarragon village and is right on the highway, no detours required.

Well a girl can't just drive past without dropping in to have a look see!

I picked up two pieces of wool felt for some more Bots and a large piece of this blue flowery fabric to sash and border the pinwheels.

Oh, and made sure I stopped long enough to have some morning tea - yummy scone with homemade Jam and fresh Cream it is after all in Dairy country.

Well I couldn't let the opportunity pass now could I?

Tonight is May's Friday Night sew-in co-ordinated by Heidi and Bobbi, I may even get started early and achieve something this time. You can play too - just head over here and sign up.

It wasn't all about recieving..

A little design from Bronwyn Hayes of Red Brolly, this one is from her Flower Bed book.

Instead of using it in a quilt -

I made a bag - which accomanied this little Angel to the home of Mrs P.

This is the Owl block which I sent to Naomi - yes those are the eyes that peeked out at you a few weeks ago.

Swapping in cyber space is such fun. Happy Crafting

Magnificent Mail and a visitor

So the visitor first because that is what blogger decided - can you guess who has been visiting my sewing space this week?

Now the mail in no particular order - recieved in the past week.

Naomi sent me this gorgeous owl block to add to the ones from the Owl Swap we participated in over at Pins and Needles.

She is stitched in shades of purple and blue - just devine and amazing stitching.

Thanks Naomi.

My pillow (cushion) cover from the Project Pillow Swap - this is amazing the colours are very representative of their fruits. Thanks to Jamie for organising this swap.

I recieved this from Maria and she has caled it Fruit Salad, perfect to brighten the dull days Mr Winter has bestowed upon us lately.

Thanks Maria

This devine Christmasssy package came from Mrs P and it did not disappoint.

It was filled with these delicious Christmas fabrics, oh and some FruChocs - but you know they didn't last long enough to take part in the photo shoot!

Thanks Mrs P.

There has been a good amount of creating happening this week as I took Jindi's mums advice and kept the work outside the home to a minimum. All will be revealed just as soon as the packages are delivered. Happy Creative Weekend to all - especially those bloggers playing here in Melbourne at Sew it Together. Look forward to hearing all about it next week.

I'm outta here...

All those promises to get me on my way to my new home were just idle chatter, and I really was eager to be on my way. So today I gathered my things and jumped in the bag at the front door, no chance I'd get left behind that way. Have fun in your new home little Angel. (See how long it takes the mailman this time??)

Special request

As I usually bring hand stitching to my craft groups, and you know I made a lot of these Annie Angels - I had a request from one of the ladies for an Angel in blues.

I complied and she is now very happy in her new home.

These little angels are quick and fun to make, I don't think I will ever tire of making them as they all turn out just a little differently with their own personality.

Shopping at Stitches and Craft

Saturday afternoon I ventured over to the Stitches and Craft show at Caulfield.

While it was quieter than it has been in past years I enjoyed catching up with all the crafty bloggers who were featured there and of course I couldn't come home empty handed.

I picked up this bundle from the lovely ladies at Ink and Spindle - it was way easier than trying to choose just one or two fat quarters.

These pieces are various sizes - all large enough to be useful.

I couldn't go past Jodie at Ric Rac one more time without picking up the pattern for these cute guys - figured I'd get the felt pack at the same time and I may even get one done.

There is a plan with a deadline - lets see if I make it?

I already decided before I went that I was going to get some hardware for purses from Nikki and well how could I choose just one - so I got enough to make a few.

I had a lovely afternoon and got to chat with some shopping bloggers too. Enjoy your week with lots of creative spaces. Happy Crafting

Happy Mothers Day

To all the mothers out there celebrating - Enjoy the time spent with family today. I'll be back soon with some pics of the crafty action this week, oh and more shopping as I spent Saturday afternoon at Stitches and Craft Show. Enjoy Sunday wherever you are.

Shopping and making

So I just spent 4 days in creative fabric heaven and what do I have to show for it? Just a few purchases - I forgot to take my camera to get pics of the amazing quilt display or the amazing textiles of India display - hope there are some other bloggers who have pics for you to see. This super cute pattern from Millimac - to make into a pillow for Ms13 and some pretty fabric - the plain and sparkly ones
and these cute little prints -
Coming to a project soon! What have I been working on this week? Something warm for me for these cooler days.
This knitted vest in navy blue is coming along nicely with not too many creative variations from the design.
Hope you have enjoyed your weekend with plenty of creative spaces.
