Creative Christmas

Some hand made Christmas dolls - Annies and angels, with Santa.

The commercial Santa just happened to sit in on the photo too, he used to be my desk ornament when I had a desk job.
(I know the dish is empty, they ate the yummies when I wasn't looking!)

A new project, hoping it will be finished quickly.
Using the pattern Evening Lace from 'Knitted Gifts" edited by Ann Budd, the yarn is Candy by Cleckheaton, an old wool blend boucle yarn that was generously gifted to me.

And...

I was gifted this teapor complete with her gorgeous cosy from one of my craft group friends. It wasn't wrapped  so there was no need to save it for next week.
In all my favourite colours -Sweet.
The pattern is Hanky Panky from 'Really Wild Tea Cosies' by Loani Prior.

Hope it's cool in your corner of the world.

It wasn't all about recieving..

A little design from Bronwyn Hayes of Red Brolly, this one is from her Flower Bed book.

Instead of using it in a quilt -

I made a bag - which accomanied this little Angel to the home of Mrs P.

This is the Owl block which I sent to Naomi - yes those are the eyes that peeked out at you a few weeks ago.

Swapping in cyber space is such fun. Happy Crafting

I'm outta here...

All those promises to get me on my way to my new home were just idle chatter, and I really was eager to be on my way. So today I gathered my things and jumped in the bag at the front door, no chance I'd get left behind that way. Have fun in your new home little Angel. (See how long it takes the mailman this time??)

Special request

As I usually bring hand stitching to my craft groups, and you know I made a lot of these Annie Angels - I had a request from one of the ladies for an Angel in blues.

I complied and she is now very happy in her new home.

These little angels are quick and fun to make, I don't think I will ever tire of making them as they all turn out just a little differently with their own personality.

Finished..

Another Annie Angel completed - looking a little contemplative. Having seen plenty of gadget/glasses cases around cyberspace I decided that this may just be something that I could use - lets hope it works. I used another Red Brolly stitchery design this time one of the bears from the Little Chicken Feather and Friends book. I made the case to fit my phone and other essentials.
Tomorrow is the start of the Australasian Quilt Convention here in Melbourne and I am going to be there for the next three days. I will be working, but I don't think it will be too much of a chore, I'll still have an opportunity to check out the displays.

Challenge...

Back in February Fiona over at Mothers Cupboard issued a challenge and provided a simply gorgeous stitchery design - The challenge to make something for Easter using the stitchery. .........................
Well I didn't start in February or even early March, no - I waited until there was only one week to go until Easter and then I started. .................................
Now I am finished - I reduced the pattern and made these three gift bags to send to my sister and nieces interstate.

The Challenge now is can the Post People deliver before Easter? ..................

Oh, yes that is one of those Annie Angels with messy hair in the blue bag.

The latest Annie Angel ready to take flight with two sisters. There are more in production so she won't be the last one here. ....................

Hope you had a fantastic Saturday - I certainly did! .......................

Tomorrow I am off to the Ballan Quilt show to check out all the amazing work of the talented people in that part of the state. Enjoy whatever you get up to. ......................

More Angels

Here are the next 3 Annie Angels waiting to fly off to their new homes. This design from LillieMaes craft comes complete with all the different stitchery designs - there are 5 in all - just one more to do then I will have tried all of them. So far I am thinking the Sunflowers are my favourite, even though I have only made it once.
.
For all those who are curious about my masterpiece and whether it has any tales to tell - it turns out it was where it was supposed to be, I believe it has just been languishing at the bottom of a pile and forgotten about. I am just grateful for its return in the condition in which I submitted it, but I know that I will not allow any of my creations to participate in any similar displays in future. Thanks to everyone for their concern.
.
Hope your week has been a good one.

Here we are...

four Annie Angels taking in a little sunshine - it was okay we didn't stay out long and there was a pleasant breeze so it wasn't too hot. Here is the Yellow one - changed the face again putting eyelashes instead of eye brows. She is so happy she has found a home to go to.
And the Blue one, which is really more purple. You will notice her chocker is a little wider than the others and sits higher on her neck - well she is staying with me, lets just say she had a bit of an accident and decided to let her stuffing come out of her neck.
Here's another shot of them all hanging together and you can see I did things a little differently and three of them have coloured fabric for the back of the body and wings.
Sometime last month was my first blogger birthday and I was going to do a giveaway - but well lets just say life got very complicated and January passed me by in a blur. So here we are in the second half of February and I am ready. The Orange Annie Angel is the one up for grabs, she'll be accompanied by some other little goodies I found today while rearranging my sewing things so that I can get the quilting started on the Happy House quilt tonight. The best bit is you just need to leave a comment on any post between now and February 28th to be in the running.

Happy Monday...

That's right Happy Monday - I got to stay at home and play. First up I finished an Annie Angel from a design by the talented Brenda Greenwalt of LillieMaes Crafts. She is a right little character - (Okay, so I finished 1 there are 3 more in various stages of production) such a sweet pattern and she comes with multiple embroidery designs, that is why I couldn't make just one.

Oh, and last night I finished putting the borders on my Happy House quilt - I like the way it came together.

I continued with the scrappy theme and used all those little 2 inch squares to make the 2nd border. I did not buy any fabric specifically for this quilt top and I found a piece of blue in my stash for the backing as well, the binding will be the same fabric as the blue cornerstones.

Now I am hoping that I can get it quilted for a finish by the end of the month, the question is will 2 weeks be long enough? And here is a pic which shows the border more clearly.
Yeah, I am very happy it is Monday.
Hope yours was a good Monday too, with lots of creative space.
