There was a point last night when I thought I may not get the last coaster finished but after a short break and a little chat, I was good to go again and....

 Became these.

All that's left is weaving in the ends.
There are two of each arrangement.
Using random cottons from the stash and a 1.5mm hook.
Very addictive and perfect for when one needs something to just flow from the hook.
More colours coming soon.

I remembered it was time for catching up with friends, before it was all over.

I'll be working on this set of coasters that I started during the week.

Sure I'll enjoy a little snack with a beverage too.

FNWF- I was there were you?

In keeping with yesterdays theme I started something new last night as well as adding some rows to the in progress projects.

You can see the finished hat on the left, the new cast on is the red on the right, another scarf/cowl idea, next up all the colours will be a hat for a little person and they're all sitting on top of the blanket in progress which is growing more slowly now.

I'll be around later to see what everyone else was stitching up.

A long weekend here so I'm looking forward to more uninterrupted creating time.

Spoilt for choice...

The good thing about finishing more than one project in a week is the opportunity to start more than one new project.

So I now have two new hats and a cowl on the needles. 

On the left a brown cable beanie knit from the brim, on the right another of the garter stripes beanies knit from the crown and at the bottom a blue cowl with cables.

I wonder which one will get the most attention tonight while stitching with friends?

Yay, I sewed

After all the preparation it only took a couple of hours

To whip up a new skirt

With a fun lining, (because apparently the original lining fabric got tired of waiting and left town)

Oh look, matches my new fluffy top perfectly.

Something different

So I've done a little preparation today and signed up with Cheryl to sew along with all the clever people tonight.

After my little finishing spree last weekend this week has mostly been about small and quick projects, tonights sewing projects should work in well with that arrangement.

It's true there is some knitting in the picture too. I'm almost done with that one and these two should go together nicely if I am successful with the sewing machine.

I didn't just pull out the supplies either, I cut out my fabric and cleared space on the table for Nomee to come out and play.

I will sew and am hopeful there will be something to show tomorrow.

Friday night stitches

Since my Big finish earlier in the week I've been focusing on little things. Friday night while your machines were whirring I spent a little time with some fun fat yarn and a big hook making the red hat. The yarn is Moda Vera Wisp from Spotty and has been in the stash for a few years now, time it was moving out. I crocheted a simple crown and then moved to a double 'V' pattern for the sides and finished it off with a neat knitted band. Nice. The sock is almost back to its place before it reversed up last week as it was turning out too short in the foot, all sorted now and I'm planning on having them finished to gift at Easter, best keep knitting. The little cream number will be an infant's when it grows up. More hooky goodness. I had a successful evening after I made a mess pulling things out. Sure I found somethings that have been neglected for so long they were almost forgotten, one in particular has me wondering why it is still unfinished as all there is left to do is attach a sleeve and some buttons? Another little finish coming here soon. Hope your evening was successful and you enjoyed a little treat. Thanks to Cheryll for having us round.

My Friday night with friends was spent finishing one sock, almost and making some limbs for another critter, while being supervised by the pink princess who has an identity issue!

There is no cure...

it seems. but before I get to that story I was supposed to come back over the weekend so you could see what I got up to at FNWF, lucky for you there was lots of activity in other party goers spaces and plenty of eye candy turned up over the weekend.

Frankly you'll be happy I didn't post my paltry effort - 

see that reel of pink thread, well I had grand plans for that with some pretty green beads. Oh yeah, you can see a dozen or so hanging on there near the bottom of the reel in the first picture, well that was as far as I got with that! By the time I got those things on there I was completely over that project already. I went and played a game.

Now the pretty yarn in the next picture played very nice and you guessed it is now completely used up in my latest sock project, part of which is hanging there with the blighted pink thread.

I managed a whole two weeks without knitting anything sock, but this gorgeous pattern just got me and I had to go hunt out some leftovers to get started.

I had to make opposites as there was insufficient of one colour to complete a pair and just making two different coloured socks would have been way too simple.

These were started last week, not at the weekend, even on holidays I need to do some things other than knit.

There was a little photo shoot Monday before the sun burnt everything in sight.

Very happy with the new socks, though they may be looking for a new home soon. Well once the weather goes back to normal.

Not as I planned

When a couple of rows of knitting while waiting for dinner to cook turned into just one more row, 

then I'll just finish this pattern repeat

and then some reversing up.

I decided it was not a good time to start sewing.

The pretty pre cut scraps are waiting patiently still.

Fortunately all went well at Saturday knit group and I finished my sock earlier today.

That's two the same or as the same as one gets with these multi coloured yarns.

Pretty Wendy Happy yarn, a bamboo/nylon mix which is surprisingly warm to wear and has a lovely sheen. Perfect for the spring season.

one of these days I'll get back to the sewing machine!

October's finished!

And all I have to show for it is more woollies which is probably just as well as so far this spring has been short on heat around here.

Twisted drops socks in purple vintage Patons Beehive fingering, design by Irene Birk.

Grey checkered cowl in grey Sean Sheep wool/soy protein mix and Cleckheaton Candy boucle wool/acrylic/nylon mix, which has a lovely sheen, design by BillS.

The Blue Spot bag is crocheted from Bendigo woollen mills classic and lined with cotton flowers, design by Sharon Ballsmith found in 'Interweave Crochet Summer 2011 edition'.

Burgundy socks finally finished and gifted to the Father, knit in vintage Patons Beehive fingering 3 ply from a suitably vintage pattern requesting this yarn.

There was more knitting, still socks and I am currently working on the second sock of two pairs one of which is close to done but didn't make it into the October finishes due to a ridiculous amount of time spent on some administrative stuff in the past week!

I've stroked fabric and planned and plotted projects but I need to clear a space to allow for some serious cutting before the sewing can begin or maybe I could just sew these 'pre-cuts'.

Fabric with Friends

Ooh, look I found the fabric I went looking for.

All I accomplished with the fabric on Friday night was to cut the pieces required and then I reverted to sitting on the couch.

I pulled out this project too. The fabric and pattern were collected back in 2009. It is true I have pondered the instructions (all 45 pages of them) on a number of occasions since the purchases were made, but I am still missing some of the important bits required to get this lovely useful bag together.

I may have just the excuse looming in the not too distant future to use this type of bag so I need to collect the remainder of the requirements to get construction under way. It was lovely reacquainting myself with this array of Ink and Spindle fabrics and I am looking forward to getting back to my sewing machine regularly.

There was a little knitting last night and today at my local knit group, but I think you've probably all seen those two socks often enough lately. I can report though that the burgundy sock has progressed to the foot and the purple sock going in the opposite direction is up to the leg.

When I got back from socialising this afternoon I turned on Nomee for a little run through. Since the last time I used her, about a year ago, she has spent a little time visiting first 'the old people' and then the sewing machine doctor. All's good and she's quite positively purring again. I started with something small and it is almost done, just some finishing touches to add. I will have evidence soon.

Sure I did, there's a few more skeins of the purple yarn so I am thinking I may just try it out on a couple more designs.

I joined in with the ladies on Friday night with friends and have been around to see a few already. They really are a busy group.

FNWF The late report..

I spent my Friday night working on these two projects.

Diagonal rib socks and Maybelle flower blocks

Added another six flower blocks to the stack.

This is the second of the socks, the one that got delayed due to a lost needle and while I have another set in this size I decided to pop into the oppy where I purchased them this week. Sure enough there were a couple more hiding in the bottom of the container, not a whole set but a couple of spares for the grand sum of 50c. Yay.

My FNWF

While I got this book from the library for inspiration and I really did think I would start a sewing project.

 I spent some time looking at the projects being very indecisive, so I picked up my needles to do a few stitches while I decided. No sewing decisions were made, instead I kept knitting along. (Hope my clicking needles weren't too distracting)

Some good progress was made on my pretty pink knitting as well as completing one of the front bands on the Mauve Miette, which is creeping closer to finish.

Today was my local knitting group and I worked on my socks. The one with the cream sole is finished and I am about half done with the leg on the second one. I'm ready for them to be done as I already have yarn and a pattern chosen for my next sock knit.

Friday Night with Friends

Thanks for your company ladies I was most productive with almost a finish and a start.

The blue mitts just need the thumb of the second one to be completed and the ends woven in, as this yarn is a very dark navy I have mostly worked on it during the day.

When the sun went down I got out this pretty pink yarn and started a new mitt. The colour reminds me of Strawberry milkshakes and the pattern is a ripple. A perfect match I think.

The best bit about mitts is they are super quick to make.

I'm off to enjoy the sunshine.

FNWF - May

Not much to show here you might want to skip over and see what everyone else achieved.  

Three hexie motifs for a new project.

I got this far before I had to think about how it was going to go together and decided I should have been working on something else.

In my defence I did finish some of the started hooky projects earlier in the week.

I switched to reading at this point and made good progress on my latest book.

Today was more productive and the red sock from the previous post is almost done.

Remembering...

 Thinking that I wanted to stitch at FNWF last night and dismissing all the new projects as requiring too much preparation I went in search of a resting project that I could just pick up and stitch.

At the very bottom of the pile was this quilt which I started early in 2008 the blocks are mostly machine pieced, though there are a couple that were stitched by hand. I duly stitched the top together and even started hand quilting it before I lost interest and moved on to  brighter and shinier projects.

I put some stitches in it last night, though as I am just quilting around the shapes in matching thread it is not obvious in the photo's. 

In this year of finishing more than I start, this quilt may actually be completed.

There was a little woolly action too but you don't need to see another half finished sock. As I got to knit today at my local knitting group there may just be a finish this week.

Now I'm off to see what everybody else was working on last night.

Flitting on Friday Night (with friends)

Lots of unravelling happening around here lately.

There was some progress and a finish - twice.

Yes, I finished this purple version of the Hermione hearts Ron hat twice. After I bound off the first time I noticed that I had dropped a stitch five rows back and now I had a big hole where three more rows had unravelled! Undone - picked up and finished again.

All done now.

This purple hat pattern has been calling out for some attention this week and I thought a little hooky action may be just what I needed considering how much unravelling of my knitting has been going on here this week.

The blue yarn was the beginning of some knitting which Miss13 was doing when she was here last year - as it was the right weight for this pattern I thought I'd give it a try - totally unsuitable yarn! Unravel.

Moving right along - look another purple hat pattern.

This time some pretty grey and a little blue, oh the square worked just fine without any unravelling. Only three more to make.

Today it was off to my local knitting group where I worked on my new sock, but I don't have a picture of it yet because all the one's I have taken so far are really out of focus!!
