Friday night In

Last night was all about the knitting...

Almost to the heel of the sock and made a start on a new hat in the reclaimed red yarn.
The mitts are still waiting for their finishing touches and the blanket is still awaiting the final colour stripe.

Today is close to perfect- sunshine, blue sky and a gentle breeze so I took my knitting and went for a walk to the beach.

Good for keeping hands busy while having a little sit down in the sunshine and the shade.

Thanks to Wendy for hosting FNSI.
Wishing you sunshine on your Saturday.

What a different view today!

This was my view when out walking this afternoon, makes me want to play with some pretty pastel colours.

Lucky my new project is a pretty green with a little blue.
And very soft, squishy alpaca yarn.

Wishing you all the pretty colours in your world.

A little knitting

Using two shades of blue this time, one pure wool and one wool silk mix.
Lovely.
On a perfect Autumn day.

Hope your weekend includes some stitches.

Remembering the sun

I love the way the angle of the sun changes the perspective of my view.

In this late afternoon shot, the sun gives me the height I lack and illuminates the water.

My interpretation in knitting.

The beginnings of a scarf this time, using one strand of pale grey and one of tonal blue, I'm getting some highlights in the fabric.

I am enjoying the crispness of the morning and evening, and the sunshine between the showers of rain.

Hope you are enjoying your corner of the world.

All the things!

The finish of the Fathers Christmas socks was about a month late - but they fit comfortably and will be much loved.

A finish of course means I can start something new - you're right I finished one thing and started one thing - a change from my two for one routine of the past, but so far so good.
Using the Rainbow Ripple baby blanket pattern  by Celeste Young again with unidentified yarn. I am enjoying the autumn colours perfect for an autumn arrival.
Colours make all the difference, you can see my previous project using this pattern here.

The cooler weather has been perfect for a little crochet at the beach, especially in the evenings.
The clouds only add to the glorious sunsets.

Hope your week has been a good one and your weekend is a wonderful one.
May all the colours play nice in your creating space.

Looking different

Recycling the yarn from the misshapen mitts, I made this pretty red one that fits.
Now I just need to make her a matching one, while this pattern is very effective it takes a lot of concentration so I can only work on it at home. Fortunately there was nothing pressing on the agenda yesterday so I made a start on the second one.
I'm confident there will still be some cool days to wear mitts when I am done with these, because they will be mine.

Red and shiny - Bendigo woollen mills Luxury 4 ply in Brick
Saturday a friend and I went to see the sea and while the day was mostly overcast and drizzly, before we left to come back the sun came out brightening things up a little, there was of course no change in the temperature which was definitely on the cool side.

Point Lonsdale pier

I needed a simple project for working on while being the passenger so I started this cable mitt using more of the Bendigo Serenade, this yarn works up beautifully making a lovely fabric. I'm going to be a bit disappointed when this ball is finished as this yarn is no longer available.
Another mitt waiting for a partner!
Thank you to those who provided measurements on this post the information is most useful and proves what I thought, my wrist/ratio is quite unusual. There is still time to leave a comment there if you are interested in being in the draw for a pair of mitts made by me.
I'll close it Thursday and draw a winner Friday.

Hope your Monday has been sunny.

Smiling today

The skys might be grey but the day was quite the opposite!
The plumber came first thing this morning, when I was thinking I was going to have to hang around all day waiting, and fixed some things plumbers fix.
I had a lovely positive conversation with a friend who lives in another city, hatching a plan for us both to be in the same place soon?
I enjoyed sitting by the beach, a calm and quiet place for a little contemplation when the sun goes away.

Swinging by the post office I got to collect a little smile package all the way from the UK.
Thanks Jacquie I really needed this reminder this week. Not because anything really bad happened I just had to deal with some difficult people who insist on being negative - which did nothing for my state of mind.

A gorgeous card with a beautiful greeting and a pretty little smile pincushion.
Lots of good stuff happening in my world too, need to make sure I let the good things stay in the foreground.

Now I'm ready for the weekend, well maybe after I finish some sewing?
I'm still knitting the same thing as last time so I guess you don't need to see that again yet.

Hope you have a reason (or two) to smile this weekend.

Seasons..

A pretty scarf for autumn.

Yarn Freedom Spirit. Design my own
The colours in this yarn remind of me of autumn in places where leaves change from green to pretty colours before carpeting the ground. We don't have many trees like that here so it is fun to play with this yarn of the season.

The hook has been busy making more hats with leftover or donated yarns.
A pretty doily inspired pink/purple one and

red diamonds.
Both hats modeled by a fellow yarn ball, not sure what I will use once I've knitted that boring grey/green yarn?

The beach from a different angle.
The moon was coming up over the water, even though the sun was not yet asleep, it was very large.

Wishing you lots of colour in your creative space this week.

Sunny Sunday

Perfect for an afternoon walk at the beach.
Swimming between the flags. (Not me I only paddle in the water.)
On the home stretch.
Working a simple cable braid all the way around the edge, now the rows are going quickly but there sure are a Lot of them! I'm lucky summer doesn't want to leave yet. Wishing you sunshine in your creating space this week.

Granny groove

After last weeks success with the little doilies I couldn't resist the challenge of working on something a bit bigger - this one will be size large when it is finished. I'm still working my way through the same cone of thread and I have no idea how many metres were on it to begin with but after working on this giant, I finally feel like there has been a small reduction. Lots more project potential still.

Cluster stitch doily from The American Thread company 1955
This is almost half of the crocheting done though there are only 10 more rounds to go they only get longer from here. Lots of little details to keep things interesting and my hands busy. Using a 1.5mm hook this time.

I wound my new yarn into a pretty ball and started working with it - this is all kinds of wonderful.
Wonderful to work with on my little round needle as it slides along nicely and wonderful to the touch. I am very happy with this yarn. Cascade Heritage Silk in a deep teal colour not the green that the picture looks like.
Sure I played with the drawing thing on my camera app.
Regular Melbourne weather patterns here with sunny and cloudy on the same day.
I love walking at the beach in the late afternoon and seeing this kind of amazing sky. Looking east with the setting sun behind me you can see a little pink tinge on some of the clouds.

Wishing you all kinds of lovely for the weekend ahead.

Let's see what happens when...

you play with the kaleidoscope function on the camera.

While watching the waves lap the shoreline;

Looking up at a cloudy sky;

Admiring the flowers in the neighbourhood;

or some happy footpath art.

New technology can be so much fun to get to know and kept me alert on my walk, looking for interesting things to capture. I was entertained for quite some time, but won't bore you with all the pictures I took.

May you learn something new this week.
