Reading right?

My little helper was keeping an eye on my progress in the sewing room.
I needed all the help I could get with these instructions - look how many there are and not even many pictures!
Wow, that's a big zipper.
What are you doing with those windows?

Oh, that bit goes there?
Sleepover bag design by Melly & Me
I have enjoyed uninterrupted sewing time this weekend and have made good progress on the bag, still wondering if it will be done in time.
While there are plenty of detailed written instructions they are not necessarily logical, like why are there instructions to cut a short piece off a length sew it in half then cut it into smaller pieces on one page and then do the same instruction two pages later?
Lots of multiple handling of fabric, cutting one shape and then cutting it again a different way.
I have to say I gave up reading and did it my way which may not have been the quickest, but at least I wasn't looking for the next direction for the piece I was working with.
Hope your weekend has been spent in your creative space.

I think I may be very pleased I made my first one in a class. I am making another (my 4th) for my daughter for Christmas. They are good bags once they are made. I use mine a lot, and it fits heaps in it.

Sometimes it is best to sew things how you think they should go together rather than follow instructions. It certainly looks a lovely bag, I can see that a few photo's or diagrams would have been helpful.

Happy days.
Bev.

gorgeous fabrics in your new bag. Sounds like the instructions were quite a challenge.
I struggle with instructions at the best of time.
Glad you persisted though.

Your bag is going to be lovely Mistea. Sometimes you just have to do it your way.

I like what I'm seeing...it's going to be lovely bag and Im sure you'll finish it with time to spare.

Thats why I dislike patterns. Often they dont seem to be very logical to me! I think of them more as a guide and then do it in the way that seems to make sense to me.

I am such a step by step person that a pattern like that would totally bamboozle me.... I love your end bag though and stunning fabrics for it too...

Your bag looks wonderful and I love the look of your skirt in the previous post. Good idea to change it up a bit :)

I really don't like following patterns, especially if they aren't written well. Looks like doing it your own way worked out nicely. Best wishes, Tammy
