Ooh Pretty

First up thanks to Kathy for the gorgeous pattern I received in the Friends with Benefits giveaway.
This sure looks like a fun pattern from the talented Helen of Hugs and Kisses - in my favourite round shape.
Can't wait to get started, just need to choose colours.

While the rain was falling on Wednesday I stayed dry inside and played with my new fabrics.

I unwrapped this lot and ironed them out.

Then I cut a whole lot of squares.

I paired them all with natural homespun,

and started sewing pin wheels

I'll be sewing some more with these this weekend - I wonder which layout I will choose.

I don't usually use this much plain fabric, but I am liking the look of these already.

Hope there are some pretties in your world.

Knitting along

It really has been a good week for knitting and this little number is coming along nicely once I figured out how to count the rows when there is no wrong side.
I am liking the little cable detail on the front, now for the neck and armhole shaping - more attention required.
The pattern is from 'The Elle knitting book' published 1984.
I have enjoyed reading 'Queen of Broken Hearts' by Cassandra King. I am almost finished, it has been quite unpredictable so I am looking forward to the ending.

Hope there is time in your week for some stitches.

Autumn...

When are you coming??

The pattern is now set on the new knitting project.

A little tea time stitching.

A finish or two
Shopping - because I was there - met the Mother for lunch yesterday and there was a Spotty in the vicinity.
Autumn has forgotten to come here - the leaves are mostly still green.
A gorgeous morning on the pier.
New curtains.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Productive FNSI

There was a little knitting with this pretty yarn - as it came from the donated bag of yarn the exact fibre content is unknown but it is definitely wool and something - my guess is alpaca as it is very soft. It is knitting  up quickly so there should be something more interesting to show soon.

I finished this candle mat - it has only been waiting for binding for two weeks, not a big job just a tad fiddly.

Then there was some cutting of these pretty pinks and greens.
I even sewed them together - Look

Not finished but most certainly well on their way - yes another sprocket cushion top and a box.

Hope your Friday night was productive.
Enjoy the weekend with some stitches.

The Castle is finished

The castle is done and the inhabitant installed - they are off to form part of the annual Teacosy Exhibition here.
You can see Rapunzel will soon be saved by Super Prince.

Just because I finished, I started something new.
The book is 'Queen of Broken Hearts' by Cassandra King - not much happening in this yet - I've been busy with the needles.
Joining Ginny in the Yarn Along - Lots of fun projects to drool over.
Hope your week so far has been productive.

Easter stitches

There was lots of time spent just loitering around here with a needle and thread in hand this Easter break - I even have something to show for it.

The projects I worked on were

Miss Millie and friends now quilted but I can't show it all yet.

A last minute Easter project, like I started it Saturday night and finished the stitching on Sunday. This gorgeous bunny pin cushion pattern is a free one over a Red Brolly - thanks Bronwyn for your generosity.

Sewn up and stuffed on Monday - he's ready for next Easter.

Then I decided as Nomee was doing a little work anyway, why not have a play with some little pieces of fabric.

There is a tutorial over a Cluck Cluck Sew for Sprocket pillows and I shrunk the pattern to make this little cutie. Thanks for the tutorial, I believe you when you say you can't stop at one.

Cut, sewn, stuffed and finished - 6 inches in diameter so less than half the size of the original - super easy just take it slow.

Hope your Easter was a Happy and Safe one.

Building a castle...

So I've been knitting along at every opportunity this week and I like the way the castle is coming along. It seems the bunnies were playing hide and seek there where I rested my knitting.
I fitted in some reading this week too and managed to finish one of the books from last week's stack. A nice easy read 'Wrong way, go back' by Ali Kincaid, is set in a NSW country town and deals with a number of interpersonal issues in the telling of the story. This book was most enjoyable and way to short.
I am now reading 'Never Stop Looking' by Sarah Jackman, set in London this is definitely a tale of loss.
Joining the knit along over at Small Things this week as my castle takes shape.
May your Easter be full of sweet surprises.

Friends and Fabric

This is one of Miss Millies friends that I finished stitching yesterday after spending the afternoon in the company of friends, old and new, admiring the gorgeous quilts of the very talented members of Essendon Quilters.

No pictures to show as there were reminders everywhere that it was not acceptable to post them on any media so you'll just have to believe me when I say the work was exceptional.

The photo was taken inside so that is just a shadow not some ugly mark on the side of her face.

I just have no control when I see gorgeous fabrics in these settings so indulged and purchased this bundle of gorgeous bite sized pieces from Corliss of Threadbear in Castlemaine and one of the vendors selling their wares at the show.

There was No Mother to lead me astray!
Hope you are enjoying a little gorgeousness about now.
