Trying to finish some things

While I was admiring all the pretty colours in my new yarn (see previous post) and dreaming of what they could become, I managed to get some work done on a couple of the projects already in progress.

So the pretty coloured mohair project is almost done and will be toasty warm to wear, I want it done real soon, as it seems that winter has finally decided to grace us with her presence. Only armhole bands to go and some ends to be woven in. Speaking of weaving in ends I did some of that on Saturday and finished a project that has been waiting for more than a month for those simple finishing touches. It's true you don't see it here as I gave it a wash and laid it flat to dry but something happened and it is much bigger than I expected so I am still considering it's fate!

Mohair vest and crochet cotton squares
The blue and green crochet squares are for another project I started on Friday, it may or may not be a success, though the yarn is lovely to work with so if it needs a rework I wont be devastated.

I made the second of the giant mitts, this time in red and at a tighter gauge, it's better than the blue one but still too baggy around the wrist. I really want these to fit as the pattern is lovely but we have ascertained that my wrist/ hand dimensions are rather unusual. As I've completed my testing obligations these will be frogged and something I can use will be knit with this yarn instead.

Wishing you sunshine in your creating space.

Bright, Shiney, New

Project that is, after all the finishing lately I just had to start something new (maybe even more than one something?)
These pretty yarns were hanging out together in the stash and really wanted in on the action.
Neither yarn has a label attached so I am unsure what they might be but they do work together.
See...
First up there is a flat piece - well maybe not so flat!
Playing with design
I made two more granny squares yesterday, so I laid out the ones I have so far - a bit of a puzzle how these might fit together? I still have yarn to make more.

I just couldn't resist and cast on another sock.

So far so good.
Joining the other yarn crafters over at yarn along this week.
Loving the cooler weather and the opportunity to wear some of my woollen socks.
Hope the sun is shining in your creative corner.

7 Day socks

I set myself a challenge last week after the Mother asked if the socks were ready when I hadn't started. Could I complete a pair in a week?
Obviously I can if I need to!
Diagonal rib socks designed by Ann Budd with minimal changes made by me.
Excuse my large feet in these medium socks.
There are some recently completed blocks mostly from 'The Granny Square Book' by Margaret Hubert
Tuscan tile
The colours are the same ones I was using last month, they are brighter than they appear in the pictures here.
Tuscan tile - Savannah - and a ring in
Lots of nice blocks to try while I give the needles a break and plan the next project which may or may not be socks.
I am very pleased with the appearance of autumn here, finally and had a refreshing walk in the rain early today.
There is a little quilting going on in the background but not so much as to be photo worthy.
Hope your week is off to a beautiful start.

FNSI - the Yarn edition

Friday evening was spent with the yarn and a hook in hand, just as I anticipated.
Another block
Another bunny
and a little more on the blanket border.
Today was perfect for the community festival.
Nobody's on the beach because all the activity was in the park opposite.

I got lots of exercise walking over to support some local community groups by buying my lunch there, to watch the parade late afternoon and then back again for the fireworks in the evening.
There was time for more crochet in between times - another bunny in the making.
Hope your Saturday was perfect too.

Backwards and forwards

After a good amount of unravelling the border on the blanket started in a forward motion again before the yarn ran out!

Now the whole purpose of finishing some of the previously resting projects is to use yarn from the stash but as I was not prepared to unravel again and change my border design, I thought about my options for all of five minutes before I decided to just get another ball of yarn to complete this blanket as I originally envisaged.

So new yarn has been purchased and the border is once again in forward motion.
As the socks were finished earlier this week there is currently nothing on the needles! I had not yet purchased above mentioned yarn so I was at a loose end when preparing to go to my craft gathering yesterday.
I've been drooling over 'The Granny Square book' by Margaret Hubert all week, it proved to be the perfect solution to my loose end.
More yarn from the stash, which was previously going to be knit into, oh who knows?
Lincraft Fuzzy Wuzzy is an acrylic/Polyester blend, not to be confused with the vintage yarn by the same name, which is pure angora and extremely soft and certainly fluffy.
Now I am making granny's and enjoying the different styles so far.
The cover design showing all the blocks at the same size is some trick of photography!

Still working through the book from last week - 'Somebody Else's Kids' by Torey Hayden.
Joining all the talented Yarn along friends.
Wishing you all time to create today.
